UK Tier 2 Work Permits

The Tier 2 work permit system has replaced the old UK Work Permit system. Tier 2 work permits are applied for by employees who are coming to the UK to fill a vacant position that cannot be filled by a British citizen and who have confirmed sponsorship from a licensed UK employer. The Tier 2 visa is now the first choice of the applicants who want to migrate to the UK and it becomes the best route for skilled workers coming to the UK to take up employment.

Applicants applying for the tier 2 work permit visa they must have a job offer and a certificate of sponsorship from a UK employer with a valid Tier 2 sponsorship license.

Tier 2 Visa Length of Stay

AThe applicant can stay up to 14 days, 5 years or one month after the period stated on your certificate of sponsorship and he can extend the visa up to 6 years.

Required Funds

For having Tier 2 visa applicants must show that they have funds of at least £945 and that at no time over the last 3 months has the balance in their bank gone below this amount.

Salary Requirements

The applicant came on the tier2 visa must show the certificate of sponsorship must show an ‘appropriate’ salary. This usually means at least £20,800 per year.

New  and additional employment

If the worker who wishes to leave their job and work for the new employer will need a new tier 2 visa for a new job. Workers holding Tier 2 visa are free to work for an additional 20 hours per week.

A successful applicant is given up to three years to live and work in the UK for that employer. This period can be extended later.  After being in the UK for five years, it is possible to apply for permanent residency.
